Custom 7-Inch Vinyl: How to Make a Personal Song Gift
Commission a custom 7-inch vinyl gift with side/file checks, a complete maker brief, original dedication, labels and sleeve notes, and a practical handover plan.
A custom 7-inch vinyl gift can hold one personal song on Side A and a spoken dedication on Side B. Choose a maker offering a playable, one-copy record, confirm the recipient's turntable, and prepare the actual audio, side order and sleeve before submitting the order.
The record maker and the song creator do different work. You supply permitted audio; the maker cuts the physical record under its own file, duration, artwork and delivery conditions. This guide gives you a complete fictional order example and finished label, dedication and sleeve copy to adapt.

Choose one playable copy, with the right packaging
Check the description for what the object actually does. Record-shaped lyric art is a display gift; a playable record needs recorded grooves and a suitable player. For a single gift, look for a one-copy cutting order rather than a release-sized pressing run.
| Route | Useful for | Confirm before buying |
|---|---|---|
| One-copy lathe-cut record | One personal song gift made from your permitted audio. | Quantity, playable sides, side limit, speed, centre hole, files and included labels/sleeve. |
| Bulk vinyl pressing | A music release needing multiple copies. | Minimum quantity, production process, artwork and total order cost. It may exceed what one gift needs. |
| Decorative record or lyric disc | A visual keepsake for someone who wants something to display. | Whether it plays audio at all. A listening code, if included, opens a separate destination. |

Provider details checked on 13 October 2026 show why the selected package matters:
- VinylArt Co lists an individually lathe-cut 7-inch record at 45 rpm, with up to six minutes per side. Its regular product lists white labels and basic protective packaging; custom centre labels and a cover are separate additions.
- Freestyle Vinyl lists a 45 rpm 7-inch single, with six minutes per side. Its current configuration separates Side A Only from adding Side B, and a blank jacket from a custom-design jacket. Select the actual sides and artwork you want.
- Disc Makers lists its 7-inch pressing offer from 100 copies. That is a different order size from one keepsake.
These are examples of ordering conditions, not tested product rankings. Use the chosen maker's current specification and selected options rather than treating six minutes, two sides or a custom sleeve as universal inclusions.
Ask which playback speed and centre-hole size will be supplied. Check those against the recipient's turntable and any required adapter. If the player uses automatic start or stop, ask the maker about that exact setup; some custom cuts may need manual cueing. A jukebox needs its own compatibility check.
Choose the message, then prepare Side A and Side B
A song on one side and a short dedication on the other gives the listener a clear choice: music first, then your voice. A one-sided record with a written dedication can finish the same idea if you prefer not to record yourself.
Use original recordings or music you are permitted to reproduce in this gift. Obtain the actual downloadable files; a subscription listening link does not supply the audio upload a maker requests. For Songbond, use your own paid custom-song download and check the terms for the use you intend.
- Keep a final copy of each recording. Check names, the complete beginning and ending, and that this is the version you want cut. Keep the source audio separately.
- Check the maker's accepted formats. Freestyle Vinyl's current file-preparation guide lists WAV, MP3, MP4 and M4A. Use the file actually supplied or exported; renaming an extension does not convert its contents. Another maker can have different requirements.
- Measure the actual playing time of each side. Add every track going on that side and leave the layout within the selected product's confirmed limit. Ask before submitting a file that does not fit.
- Name the cutting order clearly. Prefix the files with their side and order, such as A1 and B1, and repeat the mapping in the order brief.
- Review the final order layout. Match each file, title and side before approving production. If you send alternate versions, explain which one to cut rather than leaving the maker to guess.
A simple side plan:
Side A → A1 → your personal song → its actual duration
Side B → B1 → your spoken dedication → its actual duration
The limit applies to the audio on each side. The uploaded filename, record label and sleeve track list should agree.
You do not need to do unfamiliar audio processing just to make the gift. Ask what preparation the selected maker includes and send the best original file available under its instructions. Converting a compressed recording into another container cannot recreate detail that was absent from the source.
A completed fictional brief for the maker
Illustrative order: Casey is giving Jo an anniversary record. The names, titles and planning durations below are invented; no audio, artwork or manufactured record is supplied. For an actual order, use your recordings' measured durations and the maker's confirmed package.
One record, with a song and a dedication
I would like one playable 7-inch record as a private anniversary gift for Jo. This is a home-turntable gift, not a jukebox order.
Side A: A1-Our-Ordinary-Days.mp3 — “Our Ordinary Days,” one original song, 4 minutes 12 seconds.
Side B: B1-For-Jo.mp3 — “For Jo,” my spoken dedication, 38 seconds.
Please confirm that the selected order includes both recorded sides, that these files and durations are accepted, and what playback speed and centre-hole size will be supplied. Please also confirm what labels and protective sleeve are included, and how I can add the label and cover copy.
I will prepare the artwork using your current templates and check the file-to-side order before approving production. Please tell me when audio and artwork must be final, when changes stop being possible, and the expected dispatch and delivery for my address. If any part needs changing, please ask me before cutting.
The MP3 filenames describe this fictional example. They are not a promise about every Songbond download. Send only recordings and artwork you have permission to use, and confirm the cost of the selected physical package before ordering.
When the files or side limits do not fit
Ask the maker for an accepted export format or an appropriate record option. If your full song exceeds the confirmed side limit, choose another suitable format or prepare an agreed shorter edit; do not speed up the recording or remove an ending just to force it into this example. If a second recorded side is unavailable or unnecessary, put the dedication in the sleeve.
Finish the dedication, labels and sleeve
Keep artwork legible and use the maker's current template, including its required margins, dimensions and file types. Cover artwork and centre labels can be separate uploads or additions. Confirm both rather than assuming one custom-artwork option includes every surface.
Side A label copy
Our Ordinary Days
For Jo — from Casey
Side A
Side B label copy
For Jo
A spoken dedication from Casey
Side B
Add the playback speed only after the maker confirms it. The label should describe the recording on that side, with the same title used in the order.
Complete Side B spoken dedication
Jo, this remembers the place where we started and the small routines we still keep. I wanted to give you something we could return to on another ordinary evening. I love the life we have made. When we put this on, I hope there is room to sit for a little while, hear the song and enjoy being here together. Happy anniversary. I am glad it is you.
This original script is part of the invented example. Use your own memories and speaking voice; the planned 38 seconds above is a fictional file duration, not a measured reading time or a guarantee about this script.
Front sleeve copy
The Ordinary Days
A song and a few words for the life we share
For Jo, from Casey
Back sleeve note
Side A is our song. Side B is me saying why I wanted you to have it. I chose a record because I liked the thought of us setting aside an evening, turning it over and hearing both parts. Thank you for the days we have made together and the ones still ahead. Happy anniversary, Jo.
A plain sleeve with a handwritten note is another complete presentation. Keep the record in its supplied protective sleeve and use a separate card for extra words. You do not need a photograph or a custom printed jacket to explain the gift.
Plan around the actual record arriving
Confirm when the maker starts production: purchase, file submission and final approval are not always the same event. Check dispatch separately from the expected arrival at your address. Record colour, a recorded second side, custom artwork, rush options and shipping choices can change the selected order.
If you are working towards a particular occasion, ask for the current schedule before committing. When the physical timing is uncertain, you can give the personal song or written dedication through an established digital route and present the record after it arrives. Avoid promising a delivery date the maker has not confirmed.
- Check the delivered details. Confirm the names, labels, sides and supplied speed information against the order.
- Use the documented player setup. Follow the maker and turntable instructions for the actual record, including any adapter or manual cueing.
- Choose a simple first listen. Ask whether they would like to listen together or keep it for later. Give the sleeve note with the record.
- Keep the original audio. The physical gift can be one way of enjoying the song, alongside a retained digital copy.
Complete accompanying card:
I made this a two-sided gift: our song on one side, a few words from me on the other. The label identifies the side, and the maker's information confirms the speed. We can put it on together when you like, or save it for a quiet evening. Happy anniversary, Jo. — Casey
If a name, side or playback result is wrong, contact the maker with the order and file details before attempting changes to the record. For slow or fast playback, first check the confirmed speed setting.
An original song to build the record around
Your own recording can supply the music. If you want your names and memories arranged into a personal song, Songbond uses AI-powered music with team handling. You can start a personal Songbond song in the quiz and use the actual permitted download under the chosen record maker's requirements.
The physical cutting order, artwork, shipping and player compatibility belong to that separate maker and selected package. This guide does not promise a particular Songbond download format, an included vinyl record, or a tested result from either provider.
